MBHotel Hardware-Software Framework

The MBHotel framework is a telecommunication solution for hospitality industry. The framework is aimed at hotel-keepers, who would like to deploy an internal network to provide hotel customers with Internet access. This end-to-end solution allows to deploy both cable-based (hardwired) or wireless (based on Wi-Fi hot-spots) access to the resources of TCP/IP networks and is capable to perform comprehensive billing (rating, charging, pricing) of the service, as well as control of customers' access to the service depending on their settlement account balances. The Internet access is based on a PC server with the MediaBilling system installed upon it.

The MBHotel solution consists of the following components:

  • Hardware platform, used as the Internet gateway;
  • MediaBilling Server – the core, mediating between all the components of the system;
  • RADIUS DialUp implements authentication and authorization of customers;
  • MediaBilling Ethernet can be optionally used for provision of detailed statistics on service consumption;
  • MBHotel module includes access server (NAS), web-authorization component and implements control and management of account entries and customers' connection sessions.

Key features and benefits

  • Easy and cost-saving deployment and management.
  • Flexible integrability with third party software (e. g. MICROS Fidelio, Libra).
  • Easy to use for customers: a customer only needs to have any web-browser installed on his/her computer – authorization is implemented via a web-interface. Unauthorized users are automatically redirected to the authorization page and asked to submit a login and password to access the service.
  • Three types of prepaid cards are supported: per-session (a card permits a single authorization; the service is available within a prepaid time after authorization), time-based (number of authorizations is unlimited; the service is available during a prepaid period of time; the time-counter is put on hold after a user closes the web-authorization window) and volume-based (the Internet access is terminated after the traffic limit is reached).
